What makes Phang Nga unique is the mesmerizing Phang Nga Bay, where sheer limestone karsts dramatically rise from emerald waters. One should definitely visit the viewpoint of Samed Nangshe, for absolutely breathtaking views. This vantage point provides a bird’s eye view of Phang Nga Bay; scenes at dawn are outstandingly impressive against the golden light when the karsts get flooded. It’s a paradise for photographers and the most serene place for people who want some quiet retreat.

Another jewel of Phang Nga is Khao Lak, located on the mainland. Endless pristine beaches, verdant National Parks, an unruffled atmosphere, and so much more form the reputation of this place. It’s the perfect place to base yourself for snorkelling and diving trips to the Similan and Surin Islands and for exploring the region’s waterfalls and trekking trails.

Expertly located between Phuket and Krabi are two huge islands called Koh Yao Yai and Koh Yao Noi, which are just the right spots to quiet down from the crowds. The area boasts beautiful beaches, traditional fishing villages, and great viewpoints. Cycle or kayak around and indulge in fresh seafood at local restaurants. The islands are perfect for attaining that slower pace of life.

Another highlight is Mu Koh Surin National Park, famous for its great diving and snorkeling sites. The park itself embraced five islands shimmering in crystal-clear waters with brightly colorful coral reefs and plenty of marine life. It’s a paradise for underwater enthusiasts, while the grounds for jungle trekking and camping spots are also available.

On land, there is the Wat Suwan Khuha, better known as the Monkey Cave Temple, with its large reclining Buddha image and some friendlier macaques. One can also do some healthy nature walks with trails and viewpoints in the surrounding park, or if interested, do a bit of birdwatching.

Klong Sang-Ne, or the Little Amazon, is off the beaten track, offering up a unique boat tour in a lush mangrove forest. Besides, the narrow waterways with thick foliage overhead give an excellent opportunity for a different and immersive nature experience, not too unlike the one from the Amazon rainforest.
